Hi, I'm heading up to Scotland on a touring/golfing holiday for the last 2 weeks of August and I need a B&B in or around Fort William on the night of Sunday 21st.
Also, getting various ferries between Skye - mainland and Machrihanish - Arran - mainland, any issues with ground clearance? Going to be in the 997 GTS so any steep angle of approach is going to cause some issues.

Can't help with the B&B, but the boys on the Calmac ferry to Arran are more than used to low cars - they have some runners/boards etc to flatten out the angle.

Id stay outside Fort William if I were you as although its the hub for the area there are far nicer places to stay in terms of views and quality a short distance away.

The Holly Tree Hotel is nice and has great food. Its near Kentallen about 15 miles south.
Glenfinnan House Hotel is nice too and is about 15 miles West.

I use these places regulary for evening meals and find them good.

If you are looking for Self Catering for longer let me know ;-)

Thanks, I managed to get in to a place called LynLeven. It's only for one night as we will be on our way from Skye to Cambeltown. Can't wait, can anyone recommend any must drive roads between Inverness, Skye and Cambeltown?

LynLeven is fine enough.

You should take a spin around loch leven its right besdie where you are staying. Best way is clockwise so go north over the bridge and take the first right signposted to Kinlochleven and its about 15 miles of the best road in scotland.

That covers most of Scotland!
If you post or PM where you are leaving from/going to each day I'll suggest a driver focussed route!
cool

Some driving suggestions.

Head for Perth then take the A93 north through Blairgowrie and Braemar, then take the B976-A939 to Nairn.

Route is pretty straightforward, A9 from Inverness over the bridge, A835 to Garve then A832 to Achnasheen.
When at Achnasheen take the A32 to Kinlochewe, and on Loch Maree side etc, if you have time complete the loop north to Gairloch and on round on the A832 to Braemore junction and then the A835 back to Garve and then back to Achnasheen.

Achnasheen to Portree is basically only one road A890 to the A87, you could ofcourse make a diversion to Applecross on the way. Sky loop is great, and the road from Mallaig to Fort William is now very good most of the way.

Follow the coast road, and if you can include the loop of Loch Leven as described previously.
Only other option could be going through Glencoe to Tyndrum then heading to Oban on the A82-A85. Or taking the A819 at Dalmally and heading for Inverary then it's a83 all the way to Campbeltown.

Ferry between Mallaig and Skye: no problems with low cars. I've done it a few times in my lowered Z4 and it's nowhere near hitting. Can't comment on the Arran one though!

How long for a full lap of Arran? Not sure how long I have between ferries. Looks awesome.

Its 59 miles from memory so a bit of commitment would see it in under an hour!

Well I am glad I saw the video, a "bit of commitment" over those yumps would see the GTS written off smile

It's not really a road that you can DO a "bit of commitment" on, though biggrin Particularly up near Catacol, and then over by Lamlash.

Onich House Hotel? Just along the road in Onich - have stayed there a couple of times, both experiences quite agreeable.
