I saw in the Sunday Mail today a story about a Gallardo going up in smoke in Fort William yesterday. Not good.

I was there (work and live in the hospital in the background). We couldn't get extinguishers onto it quickly enough - started as a lick of flame but within a very short time it was engulfed.

Something to do with it's 'soul' probably...

Shame to hear about a nice motor going up though.

How do cars like these go on fire so often?

Really big engines produce a lot of heat. Normally something simple just gets too hot.

That or an electrical fire.

If newish cars are catching fire, there is fundamentally something very wrong with its design or build quality its not acceptable, especially being such a expensive car aswell

And mid-engined cars, by definition, have the engine in the middle where it is quite well insulated, and they also don't have the [direct] benefit of the cooling air from the front of the vehicle.

So your 100k car can't sit idling in traffic or outside a takeaway shop in case it gets toastie?

Funny how another thread is looking for B&B in Fort William - does it have to be one for distraught Lambo drivers?
