Red Bull To Work On Road Cars?
F1 team plans collaboration with Infiniti

According to the good folks over on Autocar, Red Bull Racing is planning to us its tie-up with Infiniti (which sponsors the Red bull cars) to help move towards creating road cars.
"Red Bull used to be known only as an energy drink company, but now it is recognised as an engineering team," Red Bull boss Christian Horner told Autocar. "It's a natural evolution for us to get involved in road car engineering."
We're not sure about 'natural evolution', but it's certainly an interesting idea. But what sort of form would this take? Well, Autocar reckons that a Clio Williams-style collaboration on a performance model would be the obvious first fruit of such a venture, but it's not yet clear which Infiniti model would get this.
The Infiniti-Red Bull venture is already bearing fruit, too. We're told that the public's awareness of the Infiniti brand in the UK is on the up thanks to its logo taking the chequered flag in F1 on a regular basis, so a more obvious connection to its road cars could surely only help in its ambition to sell 10,000 cars a year in the UK in the next five years...
And Natural Evolution?
Does this mean the other engery drink company, Relentless is going to start making big brash screaming thugs of motors?!

As for brand awareness, they really need to sell some Infinti stuff in the UK, brand awareness is nothing without something to buy. I thought Infinti was US only anyway but could be wrong, normally am!

But they are designed for the US market. Big thirsty V6's that only compete (in size and costs) with similar offerings from BMW, Mercedes, Audi e.t.c. here.
And to be honest would you buy a Infiniti (Nissan) or a BMW/Merc/Audi? Especially when the sales fail and the tiny dealer network vacate "the island"?
But they are designed for the US market.
A G37 in the us is a viable purchase OVER a 5 series BMW for example. In the UK its a no brainer. You go with the BMW as price wise its very similar (if not better value) coupled with the dealer network and reliability of said network. Then figure in the depreciation!
I thought infinity is basically Nissan and I thought that Nissan and Renault were joined at the hip so why not sponsor the Renault lotus f1 team ?? And why not use the Renault f1 team to develop road going products rather than paying a drinks company to do it for them?? Seems odd to me
