There are a few good sites on the east side of Loch Lomond beyond Balmaha - not cheap and really set up for campervans or try Inverarnan which has its own wee bar!
http://www.beinglascampsite.co.uk/ Pretty close to Drover's too.

That's a cracking wee site. They've got those pyramid wooden tent like things in there too. V close to Drovers (average food, great beer, great atmosphere, good pizza). Close-ish to Loch Fyne Oyster Bar for really really good food. Plenty of things to do in Inveraray about 30 mins away (old jail, whisky shop, castle). Lots of good hills to do if that's your bag - the cobbler is just around the corner, as are Ben Vorlich and Ben Vane. Section of the west highland way back down the side of loch lomond is really pretty and has rob roy's cave there too. Cruise boat trip up and down the loch. Seaplane trip if you're feeling flush (think they do a 40 min intro for £99). Loch Lomond Shores in Balloch for some reasonable cafes, sea life aquarium, boat trips, canoe hire, department store outlets about 30 mins south. Glen Goyne distillery about an hour south. Glencoe about half an hour north. http://www.beinglascampsite.co.uk/ Pretty close to Drover's too.

Should keep you occupied for a few days.
Some cracking, if tame, mountain bike routes just round from Arrochar. I think it's Ardgarten - all free and easy to find your way around. Or you can head up to the rest and be thankful and park there, using bike trails to work your way up and down the various forestry trails around Ardgarten / Glen Croe / down towards Lochgilphead.
Depends how good the pair of you are off road. If you're Falkirk direction, I think you'll find they're about the same as the camelon trails near the big reservoir to the west of denny.
The only gucci / hard trails I know of that are vaguely in the area are either the ones up in Glencoe at the ski centre, or similarly, the ones up the other side of FW at the aonach mor ski centre.

Carron valley? Good trails and down hill sections thereDepends how good the pair of you are off road. If you're Falkirk direction, I think you'll find they're about the same as the camelon trails near the big reservoir to the west of denny.

I have shown the gf videos of glentress and there is no chance of getting her on them. Nice and easy trails will be the only choice.
Cobbleland beside Aberfoyle will be ideal for you. Only about 30 mins for Falkirk. Campsite is pretty much in the forrest and sits beside the river forth. 3 min walk out top end of site and you can swim in river. Lots of good trails through forrest for bikes or walking. Used to go up quite a bit with dogs. Option to wild camp beside forth.

Can I be the first to say - avoid the Red Squirrel at Glencoe, which is a shame really, as it has the potential to be a brilliant campsite, given the location.
Indeed. If it wasn't for its walking distance to the Clachaig it would be totally useless.
Overpriced and terrible facilities.
We go every Hogmanay but only due to the Clachaig.

Been there a few times over the past couple of years and I like it. Great atmosphere at the Drovers, you meet people from all walks of life in there. The campsite's got decent facilities too, always kept clean. The midges are a killer though, never before have I been eaten alive by midges in the dark! I'm sure it's even worse further North, but I've yet to explore the North of this country properly.http://www.beinglascampsite.co.uk/ Pretty close to Drover's too.

Yes this is an option. Went when I was a nipper and can remember fishing in the river. Cheers.Gassing Station | Scotland | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
