After reading some of the posts on a recent thread about weekly outgoings, I was shocked by the figures some people were quoting on their weekly alcohol.

I go to the pub maybe once every few months, and rarely spend more than £30. In the house I probably spend less than £3 a week when averaged out over a month.

Crikey.

I'd have expected you spent a lot more than that in a vain effort to block the pain and forget the loneliness.

Or is Lambrini particularly cheap in your ghetto?

Nothing at the moment - I'm trying to phase it out over time, so I'm alternating months of drinking and not drinking. When I am drinking it'll average to around £5~ a week - my friends and I tend not to go to the pub so much as someone's house, and I won't drink at all of our gatherings, so it's a fair bit cheaper.

Compares rather favourably to a couple of months at uni (shocked to realise this is over a year ago now) where I was spending about £40~ a week on spirits that I was drinking alone.

Ouch!

I spend on average about the same as you. I might have a bottle of cider at home one evening a week or a single malt and then settle into a nice argument on PH. silly

I chose £30-50 as a rough guide to what it has been up until recently.

£10 - £20 at home but could be a whole lot more if I go to the pub. Pretty rare these days but it does happen

£30?

you can't go to the pub these days without spending £20+ when pints are pretty much £4.

I probably spend about £30/week on plonk for at home. Go out 3/4 times a week spending about £30 on average, so I suppose £120ish all in. Blimey, sounds like a lot when you add it all up. Damn you London with your enticing pubs and nightlife.

Probably averages about £5 a week over the year. A bottle of cider every other night maybe. I have a lot of it at home, but it's like a lot of things, when it's within east reach, the desire is not there.

Unless it was a specific bottle of something nice, I don't think I could drink £100 worth of booze a week - not volume wise, as in beer etc. I'd just get bored.

About £650/£700 on booze in the last 2 weeks. Too much??

The next 2 weeks I intend to average down that figure but good intentions don't always pan out biggrin
