cars that dont devalue

hi all, looking for a good car around/under 10k that's stopped devaling and could be used as a daily, what you reckon, my initial thoughts are MG RV8, Jaguar XKR or an old porsche 911, but the running costs on these might be too high, any better ideas ?

one of the last "proper" mercs, seem to hold their value and your choice of

6, 8 or 12 cylinders ranging from reasonable to ruinous in running costs

My thoughts are that generally the type of car that won't lose money in age depreciation will either do so through adding mileage as a daily driver or will cost money in running.

Nice Cup. Although they need constant looking after and imo the running costs are too high for the type of car it is. Engine is great though!

Probably because it hit rock bottom in value, not because it didn't devalue.

I think early an early Elise is in the same boat.

From new your best bet is a very limited edition car. Or small niche manufactures, like Morgan.

if you can spend a little more cash i would say a lotus carlton.
they've been slowly going up in price for the last few years and you wont lose money on the right one.

Well there are plenty of cars that wont depreciate much or cost much to run... the ones that are worth next to nothing in the first place. You can get a pretty good ten year old Mondeo for about 1500 quid and it isn't going to lose more than 1500 quid, whatever you do to it.

Well I loved mine and would probably have another. However, I'd only buy one that had new suspension bushes, new shocks and springs, radiator, clutch, AC compressor, Q2 Diff, belts done, etc, etc........my point being that they do cost a lot to run for what they are. It's normally only niggly stuff but it soon adds up. GTVs do get under your skin though and THAT engine is fantastic. The rest of the car I found a bit of a let down in the end. Specifically the handling which whilst being safe and predictable ultimately frustrates as the car tends to understeer when pushing on and the more you live with it, the more it annoys. Shame really, just imagine if it was rear wheel drive But would I have another one? Even with all their flaws I think I would

i know there is no such thing as a free lunch, all cars cost money to run, and i won't be doing mega miles. I'd rather spend my money on running a car than on the additonal cost of depreciation. Any other 90's options ford Cosworths, sierra or escort - do they fall into this group ?
