I remember someone here posting a picture of a lovely example of this watch .

I cannot for the life of me find the picture of it on there wrist.

I am going to New York for my 40th in August and i wondered if anyone knew of a decent jewellers there (im sure there are mountains of them).

Thank you in advance .

There seemed to be a supply problem when I tried to buy a large automatic a few months ago (actually October last year). No one seemed to have one in stock or know when they could get one, so I ended up buying a 1000m titanium Oris instead.

OP: Id see what the craic is with a few local ADs because if theyre still struggling; then you mightnt find one when you get there...

I bought a Hydroconquest chrono (Quartz- sorry!) at the start of the year, local AD didnt have any in stock, and other ADs round here couldnt get hold of one either without a 5 week wait. I ended up using www.watchfinder.co.uk - they put me in touch with a AD near Hull - who knocked off £150 when I spoke to them over the phone- without me even asking - so there are discounts to be had on this side of the pond.

I bought myself one of these in December last year and I have to say it is a fantastic watch. I had always fancied a Rolex Submariner but this watch has taken the design a stage further and looks more modern. i cannot fault the build quality, I wear it every day and it has withstood a lot of abuse. The screen is unmarked which is very impressive indeed. I would say that at £540 it is as good as the Rolex in every way but for less than a sixthnof the price. Longines were the first watch company to provide timing ror the Olympics..

As a pretty pointless, general question, are Longines owners happy with their lot?

I'm about to pull the trigger on the Master collection with a really useful name- L2.629.4.78.3: This one:

as for the money I've struggled to find anything with a comparable finish. I've tried a few similar in style (such as the Bell & Ross 126) but for a grand more, it does nothing the Longines does not...

Ive got a Hydroconquest and had it for about 10 months now, it has lived on my wrist every day, day in day out. I work on a heavy industrial construction site so it gets it fair share of rough treatment, bangs and bashes and it has never let me down once, it still looks very good although i must admit the bracelet is a little marked however the main body of the watch is still in perfect condition and untouched. I am really impressed with the quality and its reliability even though it does gain about 1 minute every month but i can put up with that. It has the built in divers extension too, which is pretty good. I bought it in Dipples in Norwich after looking around a few dealers and at that time they offered me 120gbp off, so i got it for 600gbp, which i couldn't resist as i had been looking for one for a while, the beauty of it was, that i didn't even ask for the discount they offered it, maybe i could have pushed for more. More than happy with it......
