Hi,

We are planning a major shoot for a Classic & Sports Car feature on Targas. This will include ten examples of the ‘fresh air alternative’.

The date and venue for this have been set as Wednesday August 10 at Dunsfold Aerodrome (where Top Gear is filmed) near Cranleigh in Surrey.

One of the cars we’d like to include is a TVR Tuscan. Anyone want to volunteer a suitable example please?

The owner will get their fuel costs paid, be fed and watered, and get a CD of photos of their car plus a copy of the mag.

I can be contacted here or preferably direct by email at: too_plus_two@yahoo.co.uk

Thanks
Russ

Would be happy to help out but can't do the 10th. Any flexibility on dates, I am on leave from 12th for two weeks?

No flexibility on this one, I'm afraid. We have Dunsfold booked for that day, and already have six of the ten cars lined up.

Thanks for replying though.

I'm up for it, if you're interested in my car, which is one of the very few unofficial mark 3 Tuscan's with wavy dash, have a look at my profile.

I might be able to work something out with work, I will let you know tomorrow if you're still looking for a Tuscan.

Happy to offer up mine as it's the first day of my hols. Am fairly local to Dunsfold too.

Alternatively Cliff's car also looks very similar (although his is spectraflair paint so stands out even more!). Happy to also be a "back-up" car if need be smile

I think yours will actually photograph better – that Spectraflair stuff can be a bit tricky in some lights.

So yes please! Could you email me your contact details, then you can consider yourself on the list.

Thanks

Excellent choice Dave’s car will make a fantastic example of a Tuscan, and he’s a pretty good photographer himself.

Dave, as a matter of interest, following my recent off road excursion I needed to have new winglets fitted and front grill repaired, which of course needed painting. When I got it back the colour wasn’t right, it looked just like yours (great colour all the same but not spectraflair), so I thought it was crystal topaz instead of spectraflair, but apparently I was wrong. It just needed extra coats of paint to get the spectraflair effect, which is currently being done. This made me think of your car and wondered if the same thing could have happened when yours was resprayed?

Have a great time at Dunsfold.

Cheers

Cliff

Hi Cliff! wavey
I managed to find a few bits of the car which hadn't been painted and it's definitely a different paint altogether. The small original bits are much darker blue, whereas the newer coat has so much green/gold in it to create the pearl.
Still think the original was nicer though smile

Off Topic: I spoke to Tim at ACT today about getting some quiet cans for trackdays etc. Did they offer you any different levels of packing in the shark nose ones you bought? Ideally I don't want to go to a larger can so hoping that ACT (and JP) can make me some that are pretty quiet, (will be keeping the rest of the standard system)
How's yours sounding now it's settled in?

Hi Russ, I'm free on the 10th, and not too far, so would be interested in this, if you still want to make up numbers?

Reflex Purple, gloss black wheels (pic in profile), ivory and blue interior

Not a show car - the paint has some chips etc. from everyday use, so I will understand if it's not the right one for you!

Cheers Dean

Interesting what you say about the colour, that's exactly how mine came back green/gold pearl that was lighter than the original. The body repairer I use is fully experienced with TVRs having worked on them for years at a local main dealer before they closed, and comes highly recommended by the TVRCC in Cambridgeshire, so I trust his judgement about correcting the colour with a few extra coats of spectraflair, which of course there's no quibble about.

About the cans, yes ACT (JP Exhausts) will tailor make the cans to suit your required sound, and will guarantee them for the lifetime of the car. Mine are too quiet for my liking so they have agreed for me to send them back to do some surgery on them to get the required sound.

Hope that helps.
