A few from Saturday. Just Fantastic to see so many E Types, as the Parade got going the atmospere was just incredible. But they were scattered all over the place. Would have been Far better to have them all parked up together in one dedicated E Type Only section.

And a big thank you to the guy in his newly restored 61 Roadster who kindly took my now ex g/f around for the parade lap.
Amazeingly this E had a plaque fixed to its heater box saying J.D.C. 21st E Type meeting, Duxford, July 18th 1981, 2 days after my 21st. Well, as penniless E mad, TR6 driving youth, i was at that meet and probably have a photo of it somewhere!!

Early and Late Series 1s. Note the "Open Head lamps" on the car on the right. Open lamps were first available from aprox March 1967 and ran along side the Closed lamp cars.

Both are just stunning.

Unfortuneately and to my Ever lasting regret, lack of time (and redies), meant that this Feb 68 E ( last driven on the Road in California in 1982 and garaged until last year ) was unable to take part in the parade lap. Brakes were on the floor, knackered tyres, no mot etc,etc, but at least she got there !!

I was privileged enough to blag a ride in the parade, about (a mere) 50 cars from the front. It was amazing to be part of it to be honest. That's not normally my sort of thing at all, but the response was phenomenal, especially when we went past a huge bunch of XK8s and the like. My photos are included here:

This turned lots of heads. Another Modified "Fast Road" Series 2 car, (judgeing from the back end, but fitted with a S1 Bonnet), love the Wide Bolt On Miniltes.
It sounded awesome, heard someone say it had a V-8 ?

Not to my eyes, totally ruins the whole essence of the E-Type for me.

Each to there own, but why Jaguar continued with wires for so looooong......When Porshe, Jensen, Aston, Chevy Corvetes, Lotus,Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini etc etc, Threw them Over the Hedge Years before.....

Narrow, Very Expensive, Heavy, Prone to Spokes breaking, a Nitemare to clean and maintain....

Fair enough, I'm not a great E-Type fan anyway.

I was fortunate enough to drive the parade lap in my dad's 1965 series 1 roadster and I have to say, while it was amazing driving amongst hundreds of etypes, it was a bit like driving on the M25 in heavy traffic.



The parade was far too slow IMO - I think we got out of 1st twice. As a result you couldn't really enjoy, but I guess it was all for safety.

Also the organisation was a bit rubbish too. After the lap we just sat in another mass traffic jam as it bottlenecked, hence why all the jags were parked in random locations afterwards. We just left ours on the side of the road rather than risk overheating.

Still a fantastic memorable day that's for sure. I hope those that went on the Saturday stayed for the last group C race at 8pm ish just as the sun was going down. That was awesome watching the silk cut jags tussle with the RC90 Nissan and Mercedes silver arrow.

Also I spotted an e-type from Curacao which I looked up and is from a Dutch island just off Venezuela in the Caribbean Sea. Anybody spot any further travellers than that?
