what these funny little slots are for ?





Having a bit of a tidy up while the engines out and came across these carefully blanked off slots near the bonnet catches (no paint when I removed catch so guess catches were fitted prior to shell being painted)?

Has everybody got them (Taimar) ? There's also a 1/4 bolt in each corner apparently doing nothing other than filling a whole, visible to left of slot in first picture ?

Upgraded to cable pull bonnet openers (and sealed to stop fumes), the extra bolt would be the holder of the old internal spring tag.

So I can fill them without worrying that one day I'll realise they're needed for access to something terribly important !

Yes you can fill them,NOTE that...Tension on the 2 catches relies on the passenger side spring and you then pull the handle factionally and do the trunnion/bolt up on the drivers side mech (so as to back load it) emergency opening of the catches would be by 2 other holes filled with grommets under the mechs, which allows a long screw driver access from the foot-wells.
