This should really be in the domestic appliance section
But has anyone got a nice excel spreadsheet for comparing the running costs of various cars.
The other halfs shiny car has burped its turbo and Honda want £2500 to change it
I want to scrap the bloody unreliable overly complicated thing and spend the same money on a banger or buy an aygo
She wants to fix it and then trade it in for another shiny
If anyone has a nice little spreadsheet for working through the costs of the various options.
This isn't a what fun car I want the cheapest and least hassle way of getting her to work.

As to the main dealers the swear word has not been invented as to how i feel about them
No way i would be paying that, cost wise £1000 is closer to the mark on either the 1.9 or 2.2 unless there is other work required such as intercooler etc then they are taking you for a ride!!hateful hateful car

The quote was £4500 for fixing the turbo and replacing all the brakes as they were all dangerously wornANYWAY
Does anyone have a nice spreadsheet for working out the running costs of a new car taking into account depreciation, finance payments etc.
I'm happy with runing a shed but the wife isn't

Running cost wise, what do you want it to cover;
Petrol (i'll get this working on an average mpg input against forecasted miles per year against average price per gallon)
MOT
Tyres / Consumables
Dealer Repairs
Insurance
Road Tax
Depreciation (clearly this is subject to personal view, so it will be built on a percentage input and people can alter it accordingly).
Finance, i may need to do a straight capital purchase vs a finance agreement model. The capital finance will be done first as its easiest.
Shout if you want anything else on it.
It will work on a discounted cashflow basis, probably using a 3.5% discount rate (i'll make it so you can change it as to your treatment of money over time). The model will allow upto four car comparison, and be on a Net Present Cost basis. I.e. what it would cost you over 5 years to run in today present cash value.
It in essence allows a life cost comparison, in todays values.

I don't mind sharing it for the PH massive, because I'm full of the milk of human kindness, unlike matey above......
It will of course come with a load of caveats that mean if you use it to make an investment decision and its wrong in any way....its your problem...etc etc.

Which is exactly what i want
if someone can host it and folk contribute to it is would be excellent
I would write one myself and let it out for genral use but it would take me a week and it would be s

I'm not going to write any complicated Macros into it, as to be honest it just needs to be functional and easy to use.
But yes, if I build it, I don't mind people hosting it elsewhere or even on here.

I'd do the turbo but the access is bugger all and i don't have a 2 post lift to do it from underneath. I ain't lying on the floor to do it as that pisses me off no end i'd be sorely tempted to set fire to the bloody thing
