I know that diplomatic cars carry number plates with the letter D in between numbers.

But i have seen a few cars that carry the letter X between numbers.

Where are these from?

a US guy in our club had one, he works at RAF Croughton the listening station close to Silverstone thats hooked up to all the US embassy's

no road fund licence, no MOT, can park where he wants even on double reds in London, no speeding or driving fines, etc

though he said if he took the micky the plates could be taken off him

They can and are stopped.

The car isn't immune.

The driver 'might' be.

Most are compliant and pull over, those that don't run the risk, in general of a severe bking for failing to stop by the Ambassador - unless (dons cloak and dagger style voice) they have reason not to stop and afer are the secrets of our digestives.
