Hi folks,

Seeking some advice...I have built a summer house and installed a 32 LCD, PS3 and DAB radio. I have an old set of Tannoy M1 speakers collecting dust that I though I could put to use.....Can some recommend me a reasonable amp for the task.

I suppose ease of connectivity is the main point, its a 15 year old set of speaker in a shed after all. It would be good to have an integrated Ipod dock, and easy to connect PS3 (I have an optical connection already for the ps3.)

Budget is around £150

Thanks in advance.

Well, my advice would be to keep an eye on the Richer Sounds bargain bin. Last year I picked up an ex-demo Cambridge Audio 640a for just over £100. The cambridge audio ipod dock is £20 or so and works with any amp.

Alternatively there's always Rotel/Cambridge Audio/Marantz amps on ebay for £20-£100.

I've connected a sky box, cd player, ps3 and the dock via RCA connections.

cheers Phil,

I will do that, so I can just use a simple two channel amp? ?.....I get confused with all this 5.1, 7.1 etc. stuff. I did have an old Nad amp somewhere...think I must have chucked it during a clear up.

Was not sure what the PS3 needs really, when I play it through my Philips Sound bar (pseudo surround) it sounds worse than through my telly!

cheers

Yeah a 2 channel amp. I've got the PS3 connected to the rca imputs of my amp via the supplied PS3 lead with the red and white outputs and it's pretty good. I tend not to use the ipod now as the PS3 plays MP3s and holds loads of them, even at 320kbps.
