I don't think there is any info yet, I assume they are putting all their time into Skyrim at the moment. I'd expect the new Skyrim engine to be used for Fallout 4.

Well, it's sort of Fallout 4, but not.

No, that's a screenshot from the Fallout MMO.

It's a bit complicated. Bethesda bought the rights to the IP, on the condition that Interplay could make an MMO. This all happened quite a few years ago. Then the IP turned out to be quite a bit more valuable than it was imagined, and Bethesda tried to do a land-grab on the MMO. It's all about to go to court.

Yes, I saw about that, but there was/is still one game they could run even with the court stuff. It's a real shame and I hope there is an F4 and soon...

Fallout 4 will probably be a good couple of years off. Although I cant wait allready especially using the same engine as oblivion.

I assume you mean the same engine as skyrim, fallout 3 used the same engine as oblivion..

I think they will alternate between elder scrolls and fallout games from now on...expect rumours followed by an announcement after skyrim and its DLCs are released

Even without the legal dispute I wouldn't expect to see a new stand-alone Fallout game based on the Skyrim engine for a couple more years. Oblivion was released in 2006, and the sequel is only just arriving. F3 was released in 2008....

And, of course, we're still in the DLC cycle of F:NV

I agree - unlikely to see Fo4 for a few years.

Don't get your hopes up, these games take years to make and by the sound of it, work on a new one hasn't even started yet. smile

Well having played my way through the buggy piles of toss that are Oblivian, FO3 and NV, I can conclusively say I will not be an early purchaser of either Skyrim or FO4. Each of these games should have been brilliant, and after 12-18 months they very nearly were, but bloody hell, they were broken when released first released.

NV was by far the worst, so they seem to be on a downward spiral.

Which is just inexcusable as it uses the creaking Fo3 engine so should have been pretty much bug-free by now. Only, as you say, it isn't.

Funny as I've played F3 through twice and I'm on my third play through Oblivion and not encountered any major bugs.

You must be very lucky then, I had major problems with it freezing so often it made me not want to play it (I was too stupid to keep on saving every 10 seconds).

But then again I had so much kit in my house my locker was like the wardrobe to Narnia - it would also lose some of my kit at times......
