A tax office worker who hijacked a woman's identity and invented four children to fraudulently claim £90,000 in benefits has been jailed.

Defence lawyer Joseph Myles said the fraud had started because Barrass, who now works as a slimming consultant, was struggling with household bills.

eek

unless she is consulting Dawn French, me thinks she is commiting fraud for a second time laugh

On-topic: disgusting. And all she gets is a free holiday on the tax payer. Sorry, I mean prison. No, I mean holiday camp. FFS.

Off-topic: Well, some say you can't counsel drug addicts or suicidal people until you've been there.

What did she spend the £90,000 on? 3 Ginsters Pies from a Welcome Break service station?

You can see how the fraud was discovered. Blatantly nobody could impregnate such a creature - it was obviously deception

And I suppose we'll have to look after her kids whilst she's inside.

the fat used her kids and "paying bills" as an excuse to defraud 90 odd grand.. Who the fk has bills of 90k living in one of these houses?? If it had been a male he would of been sent down for a lot longer..

At least it's a step up from actually having four kids to claim £90K.

Well at least she was caught. Which does beg the question, are there others in the tax office (trustworthy lot it seems!) who are doing similar but perhaps on a smaller scale so as not to get caught!?!?

This has happened before. Its usually change of address folowed by change of bank details, although in this case she actually moved into the 'live' claiments house, so it was probably opportunistic . My ex class mate (HMRC employee)explained how the scam works, you end up with other peoples money, paid in thier name, but to your address and your bank account. Chokey normally stops employees doing this, but must be very tempting for some. Change of bank details should require higher level authorisation you would of thought. How long till shes out because of 'uman rites' to look after her kids?.
