Urgent help needed with Chameleon Orange paint
Discussion
In the past year we have had a scratch on the front and some small damage on the diffuser on our Chameleon Orange T350 and decided that the frontend (except for the bonnet) needed a respray and the diffuser needs to be repaired.
A friend of ours owns a chameleon orange (nr. 076) TVR Tuscan and also had a some damage to the front wheel arch. He picked up a liter of paint at Kerridges (the TVR dealership in Ipswich) during a family visit. The result on his car was fine and we asked him to bring over a can for us as well, but apparently the color doesn’t seem to be the same as the chameleon orange on our T350. Our color seems to have more gold/copper pigments and a little more metallic.
When we bought the car in the UK, it came with a small bottle of paint which seems to be correct and has the following text:
TVR 076
Chameleon Orange
Waterbase BFU
Does anyone know whether there were different suppliers for Chameleon Orange or different types of paint?
In addition, which companies can still supply this paint?
The front of the car is already sanded and the car has been standing in the garage for a while now, we really would like to find the right paint and drive it again...
Thanks,
Bernard

This is the problem with the more exotic paints used on TVRs as the actual composition was made up by the painter at the factory.
I'd suggest you contact Surface and Design in Blackpool who are ex TVR sprayers and have access to some of the later build records and they will be able to help you if they have teh records for your car.

We have not been able to find the main tinter yet which is called Magic Gold, still trying but there is a lot of Chameleon Orange and Chameleon Green cars out there that need this tinter. Lots of paint shops must know where it is available, having said that we were at one time able to source Chameleon Green in waterbase direct from Glasurit but they have told us it is no longer available.
Still trying.

Doing very well. And you, still enjoying the good life in France?
Tony was referring to Surface & Design, i contacted them and they are now looking into the options (see post of above).
Thanks!
