This is my 1991 Mini, owned it for about 10 years, bought it in 2001 with 44k original miles with full Rover history whilst I was learning to drive so it was my first car. I spent quite a bit on it, then the usual Mini rot set it, it sat unused for about 3 years then I decided to do something about it.

So here goes.

Back in 2002

Looking a bit sorry for itself a few years later

Fast forward a couple of years and the rebuild begins

Stripdown

Mini?

On it's way to the bodyshop/mini specialists

Some new metal

Semi-prepped and back

Late spec MPI interior taking shape

Being painted

Trip to Birmingham for a low mileage 1275 with a recon. 'box

Almost built back up

Some cheeky 4 pots

Away again for new engine and a couple of other things

First MOT

Engine bay trinkets

Drove it a few times over the summer, SORN for the winter, then back with a new interior

Wanted a little extra power, longer final drive, gearbox recon and investigate why the oil light was staying on longer after starting, turned out whoever did the gearbox before had done a very shoddy job. So in with a 3.1 final drive and a 266 cam.

Again, drove it for a bit longer, decided to do a Megajolt conversion

All up and running

Also added a discreet shift light..

Bit more engine bay tidying

New look interior with a 3 speed heater fan and custom heater controls.

So there we have it, all that's left to do is an electric window conversion, I'm also not happy with the passenger door after it was reskinned, it's warped so I have a brand new Rover door ready to be painted and fitted.

Lovely Job. How easy was the Megajolt set-up to get up and running and have you had the car mapped or done it yourself?

More pics please...

The oil pump was well buggered, luckily, no damage had been done, the bottom end was rebuilt just to be on the safe side whilst it was apart, new clutch fitted too as it would be stupid not to.
The megajolt setup was easy really, can be done in a weekend, I used the specialist components kit with a dizzy blank from MRA Mini's. The only thing I would say to have before starting work is a 14mm allen socket for the new crank pulley bolt and a 34mm socket for removing the old one.
More pics can be found here...

1167 photos of the rebuild can be found here, covers every job I've done on it..

love your mini. It's top on my list of my next car to own. The rust scares me though!

Green & White did the initial engine swap, then the rebuild of the bottom end and gearbox plus a couple of other bits over the years.

Highly recommend them to anyone, they really know their stuff and are spot on blokes.

Ambuletz - DO IT!!! They're huge amounts of fun. Rust can be a killer on them, it's easy to hide on a Mini so you have to know where to look.
