Strange Convoy

On Monday morning I was heading south down the A34 between Didcot and Newbury and coming the other way was a large blue Police van with funny (Bulletproof?) windows and a GPS dome on the roof followed by 3 or 4 vans that looked much the same but in army green followed by a large artic with a strange trailer followed by a couple more army vans followed by another police van and a fire engine and another artic and a huge army breakdown truck. I think I spotted a few interesting Range Rovers as well. Anyone got any ideas what was so important? Transporting Nukes to Submarines in Scotland?

Could be? Google throws up a34 as a route used in the past. Definitely sounds nuclear transport. If you search youtube there are videos of convoys. Did you not see any plod bikes?

I didn't see any bikes but the Police vans were plain blue without reflective yellow silver stripes.

It may not be a nuclear transport. It may be just a look alike as in 10 mins, as it can easily found out what routes they take.
