lighter socket light always on - wiring diagram?

Noticed at the weekend that when I parked up the light below the lighter socket is staying on.
Had a look behind the speaker last night and realised that I need to take of the door trim to get a proper look, which I know from previous attempts is a PITA job which I didn't have time for. I did however manage to disconnect it (black wire with red connector) from behind the speaker.
This all seemed fine as a temporary fix, but after re-fitting the speaker I had what at the time seemed like a really weird problem with the door opening switch. From outside the car the door opening switch didn’t work, but when sitting in the car (side on with the door open to look at the wiring) it worked. After a bit of head scratching I realised that the door was further open when I was sitting in than car than when I tried the switch from the outside.
I seems that with the door fully open the switch works but when only partially open or shut it doesn't. After a bit of manoeuvring of the main wires coming though the door I got it to work, with the door shut.
Will be taking of the door trim at the weekend to have a proper look and maybe replace some of the wiring. Has anyone replaced the inner door wiring or have a wiring diagram for this?
