The wifes E36 328i Sport Individual spec

Bought this about twelve months ago, paid top dollar but came with lots of history and was well known in a number of BMW circles.

Spent a lot of time on it since purchase trying to get it to as nice as possible condition, also put together a full history folder together, every receipt / invoice since 2006 (when it left the BMW network for maintenance) has been laminated and put in a folder, current spend on parts / maintenance since 2nd September 2006 is just shy of 10k

How come you didn't go for an M3 of the same era?

bakerstreet - I could have got an M3 relatively easily for what was paid for the 328 but it would not have been in anything like the same basic condition. I looked at a few and all needed money spending on them in areas that the 328 was totally sorted.

Also did not fancy the M tax on parts - I'm happy with the 328, never tried to pass it off as an M3, it is what it is - a nicely sorted 328

Just a quick question re. my E36 318is, no idea if you will know this but my ABS/traction control doesn't work and when you turn off the engine, remove the key and engage the handbrake the ABS & handbrake light come on and stay on until you release the handbrake. This is with the keys out of the car and locked. Any ideas?

Easiest thing is to get it hooked up a diagnostics system - sounds like an electrical fault of some description

What exactly is the 'smokers pack' listed in the spec? Cigarette lighter and ash tray?

That's a beautiful car, A set of bbs sport wheels would finish it off a treat Yours is the only E36 I've seen other than mine that has the badgeless rubbing strips fitted, an individual option I have been told.

I've had a number of 328i sports, My last sport was silver with a very similar spec to yours, the only thing I couldn't get used to was the grey dashboard & door panels that always accompanied silver leather. I always thought it would look better with a contrasting black trim instead. I had ideas of creating a black/silver leather combo but never got round to it.

I have tried a set of RC041 / 042's on it and it just did not work - I love the Sunflowers, the OH loves the BBS RS724's that are on most of the photo's - thats why they get swapped over at intervals

Cheers, I may have to do that but just thinking there may be a simple solution (I wish!)

Managed to secure a genuine Alpina525 M50 inlet manifold conversion so that will be fitted in the next few weeks, been told that it transforms the characteristics of the engine and releases another 20-25bhp, it had previously been fitted with one of these conversions and re-mapped to suit but everything bar the map was removed just before I bought it.

Also acquired a rather nice carbon fibre engine and rocker cover set - slowly but surely its coming together

Please don't. (Awful looking wheels - the 5 spokes were far nicer)

Oohh me that there is lovely, Atlantis Blue is one of my favourite E36 Colours

Didn't know it was there . Most people seem to love the car - the thread was wrong though, Atlantis was a rare colour. seen other model BMW's in it and it doesn't seem to suit them at all
