E39 528i - oil?

Quick question: is 0W-40 the right oil for my 528i?

The M52 should take 5W 40 fully synthetic although 10W 40 won't harm it - especially if it's a little leaky.

I've run both grades on several M52's.

Many thanks. This is the first time I've ever even thought about the oil, and it's only because the oil light flashed yellow yesterday after switching the engine off.

How many litres does it need for a change? Mines a November 1999 V 528.
