Agreed, although working in the automotive industry I sometimes feel the same too. When you see the
tooling, jigs, production/assembly plant, gauging, painting facilities etc etc, you wonder how the hell they make a car for £15k or less.
Interestingly though it doesn't always go to plan... I've heard the new Evoque is 10mm wider than it should be caused through
tolerancing errors on the tooling... They're correcting it, at huge cost, as we speak :-)

How long would that take in real time from start too paint dry
probably a little longer than 3 mins 5 secs ??
