Interchangable body parts...
Discussion
Hello, this is my first post, but i have been reading this forum for over a year. A little late to start posting i guess
Anyways, I'm very interested in getting an S4S or post '97 v8 model. But before I jump in, i'm steadily educating myself on the cars. As the owner of 5 restored classic mustangs, i know that knowledge is power, and if you dont know what you're getting into , then you're screwed. anyways, here's my question.
On the S4 and up, what body parts are interchangable? I'd love to have one of the post '97 wings on an S4s. Do people regularily change out facia/wings on the cars?

Can't see any issue in changing an S4s wing to a V8 style. The S4s wing mounts on the body - late v8 hi wing mounts on the hatch so you'll have some mounting holes in the body to fix, plus you'll need to drill some new holes in the engine cover, but not too difficult to do..

anybody have a "common car" replacement for the rear hatch struts? mine are a little stubborn..
Bruce S4s
Bruce,
This from KFM:
A perfect replacement for the Esprit's hatch gas struts is made by AVM. These
are available for sale at AutoZone parts stores under the name Mighty Lift.
Below are the part numbers for 3 struts with different amounts of resistance.
Which one you choose will depend on whether you have a hatch mounted spoiler. In
my case I only replaced one of the struts with a 130-lb model. This provided
enough force to lift and hold the hatch open. I noticed that if I only used one
of the new 130-lb struts instead of two and I kept one of my old ones on the
other side, the tension on the hatch was just right.
D-95765: 95-lbs
D-95297: 120-lbs
C-95029: 130-lbs
