Benjj's Yorkshire Nordschleife
Discussion
This may well have been better in 'Roads' but wanted the Yorkshire gang's take on this.
I am getting the Citroen back in about 10 days and am working out a route to give it a shake down before some of the European rallies kick off. I've been thinking of some good routes to test the car out including a bit of a mix of everything we'll encounter on the continent. With this in mind I've trawled through this section of the forum (and 'Roads' of course) and come up with a route:
93 miles long taking in pretty much all of the suggested North Yorkshire/Dales roads.

Essentially starting and finishing in Skipton, taking in a good blast on the A59 to warm things up, B6265 Ingleton-Hawes road, Buttertubs to Thwaite, Buttertub's brother road from Muker to Askrigg then the Aysgarth to Grassington road (Kidstones, Buckden, Kettlewell etc.) From there through Burnsall, Appletreewick, Eastby and back to Skipton.
If it goes well I may see if any of you chaps are up for an early hoon one autumn morning.

Are they open at 9am?
Ben - just a thought and it only adds about another 15 mins on is to go from your point H, back across nearly to point D and turn south through Gayle and right over the top of Whernside and back to point K via Deepdale and Yokenthwaite.
Spectacular views from the tops
I think I will take the Z4 rather than the Testarossa this time!

Yes, I bet I would.
I was roped into that one by an ex-pat who was passing through the UK, en route to some other god forsaken corner of the world, who'd done a bit of rallying, bought a standard DS for a laugh and entered it in a restricted event.
It was more entertaining than Alton Towers...

Subscribed. I'd love to have a nose round this car too sometime, sounds fascinating. I've never seen a DS in any kind of motorsport setup, its an interesting mix!
Assuming you've seen my blog on the project (http://citroen-ds-restoration.blogspot.com) you can also read more about the 60s & 70s Citroen motorsport division at the following links:http://www.citroenet.org.uk/sport/ds-rally-cars-01...

And this video link for the DS competing in the East Africa Rally.
I'm based in Skipton so very happy for you to come and have a poke around any time.
Edited to add: I'll be at the Hebden Bridge Vintage Weekend on Saturday 6th August - if any PHers are there do say hello.

I like the Oughtershaw Rd route over to Hawes but it's narrow and progress is often thwarted by traffic - otherwise it looks like a great run out, a few of my favourite roads from when I lived over that way.
I'd change it slightly if you can be sure it'll be an early morning run with less traffic:

Ben said an early run, so I assume that suggests the usual 6am start which should have us back for breakfast well before the traffic builds up.I'd change it slightly if you can be sure it'll be an early morning run with less traffic
I'll have to check but 14th should be good for me, I've not been on a group run out for a while. I'll consult my map too, got lots of the good bits marked off in highlighter. Earlier start the better for me, as Burriana says, you want to be on your way back home by 9 really!
ETA oh and thanks for the links, car looks great! Very interesting.
