Afternoon all,

Recently bought an ST170 and I'm happy with it, but have noticed that while it warms up, it idles around 1,500RPM and the throttle response is a bit lacking. I assumed this was just to prevent morons ragging it before it's fully warmed up, but I did some searching and found the following page;

Problem: Poor throttle response and engine revs staying high after throttle release during warm up phase.
Solution: The cause is incorrect software settings in the PCM (engine control module). The solution is to have the PCM re-calibrated.
Now - mine is a 2003 model, so this confused me a little, but regardless, does anyone else see this with their cars?

Hmm... Haven't seen mine overheat, yet, but I don't spend a lot of time sitting in traffic.

It's getting serviced next week, so I'll let you know the outcome.

I have a July 2004 built ST170 and it has none of the issues mentioned. They were designed to idle when cold at 1500rpm due to poor brake servo performance, also the engine torque is limited till the coolant temp is above 50-60C.

The latest PCM firmware fixed quite a few running issues but if your car has been dealer serviced this should of already been done.

These cars do seem to be very variable, it took me ages to find one that had the right history and seemed to have most of its horses still alive!
