hi all, i have an early 4.2 cerbera with the small single peice brakes. i am looking to upgrade the brakes and have seen some of the later/different model calipers (cp6600). what exactly would i need to go with these calipers if it is at all possible to fit them to my car? i have read all the previous brake posts but the more i read them the more confused i get. are the mounting holes different? thanks rob.

Thank you Tur8o, I have just walked in after visiting my local AP speialist to ask a very similar question and I am very glad I am not the only confused one on here.

I have a 4.5 with the two part discs. I want to keep the original calipers which I think are the ones that Tur8o has mentioned but I need to know what is the biggest disc I can use with those calipers and what is the PCD so I can get a pair of discs that fit the bells, the chaps at AP were not sure as it is no longer listed in their systems, also what size spacer would I need to get to move the caliper.

Al advice gratefully received as my current discs are completely FUBARed now.

You might want to have a word with Firestone Audio, too Nick (or is this a new line of business for you?):

Tur8o, looks like you need a pair of cp6600 calipers from AP and a pair of 330X28 brake discs with a PCD of 203.2mm or 8 inches(same thing).

If you do not have the bells then you need to get some from here
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/cerbera-4-5-tuscan-sagar...
then I think you should have all you need aprt from the 4 mm spacers that can be made up from washers, nothing technical about the spacers.

This is what I am buying tomorrow.

Cheers

Hi Rob,

if you've read all the Brake posts then you will have seen this one so I would think that Mad Mark's solution would be best for you.

Good Luck thumbup

Unless I am being extra stupid today I think Mad Mark's solution was to get new rotors made up that matched the original sizings for the 4.5's with separate bells.
If the OP wants to use Mad Marks solution then I guess he will need to fit the 4.5 calipers - I presume also the 4.5 bells...?

Yes, quite right GB. I was just trying to bring all the info that I had available such as 4.5 Caliper part Nos and AP website, together in one, easy-to-read post.

My apologies for any mis-direction. bangheadnono

Biggest you can go on the earlier 6 bolt calipers is 343mm, this requires shaving some off the corners of the caliper..
I dont think the later caliper will go that big, as we looked at this when fitting bigger discs with CP6600 caliper, might be wrong though..

at least the failure was captured in early test phases as opposed as to in live.

Hi i hope this will help as i was in the same situation.

I spoke to a guy at AP who said they no longer made the TVR discs but said these would fit the originale TVR/AP bell.

CP3580-1048RD 322 X 30 DRILLED DISC

CP3580-1049RD 322 X 30 DRILLED DISC

BELL MOUNTING KIT MTG KIT-12B

I've fitted these & they seem fine.

I had to buy them from "Questmead Ltd" as AP could't sell direct.

Hope this helps.

John.

Right, I have ordered AP parts CP3580-2898/9 are the discs (330mm diameter, 28mm thick. The G8 versions is 8 grooved also. Quite expensive at about £250 a disc but they are the top spec discs that should last well.

These fit straight on to the original bells and just need the addition of a 4mm spacer to move the caliper out a little.

I have also ordered a set of Pagid RC14 pads at the recommendation of the chaps at AP they said that they would work best with those discs. Again quite expensive at £180 of the front pads alone.

I will be leaving the back brakes as they are on standard discs and EBC Red Stuff pads as they are OK on the back but I needed more stopping power on the front as the rears are mpre prone to locking up than the fronts at the moment.

Good man - this is what I plan to do.... where are you getting the spacers from?
