pre-cat mileometer

Just seriously considering buying a Griff - the mileometer on the one I hope to buy very soon has recently stopped working - is that likely to be an easy fix? I'm not familiar with how they work.

It could be , but could also be the sender in the lt77 gearbox, which are not that cheap, IIRC about £80.
If its the speedo head, Speedy cable "may" be able to repair it.

However, they can make a modern copy of it which will fit and replace the old Stewart warner one.

Thanks for the prompt reply. If its the sender that needs replacing is that a difficult fix?

I wouldnt let that put you off the car if everything else is right. The clock can easily be fixed and if it is the sender its just a 2 minute job changing them over. Its just on the side of the gearbox. Unscrew one and screw in the new. Good luck.

I too wouldnt let it put you off, but the speedo cannot be "easily" fixed......
The IC in the speedo head can fail, and are not easy to get hold off.

and to replace the LT77 gearbox sender is an exhaust off job, which is not too bad .

It is a 30 minute job on a ramp,but scrawling around on your back in the garage, not really knowing what you are looking for, it may take a fair bit longer.
