Roof Protection

Any advice on roof maintenance? What products are best to use to keep a nice watertight, black roof and back window? Thanks.

Renovo for colouring, thomson waterseal for waterproofing. Worked fine for me.

Any ideas for how to kill the green algae stuff that starts growing this time of year without ddestroying the fabric?

Ditto Renovo (www.renovointernational.com) - finally got round to using my kit at the weekend. Did it over the course of 2 days. One day cleaning, waiting to dry, painting, and the other using the waterproofer and window polish.

Only advice is make sure you mask up as much of the bodywork as you can, as well as the rear screen and windows. The reviver is very runny, and drys quickly!

I can’t speak as to the waterproofing qualities of Renovo over the other products, as leaks have never been an issue with my car – I’ll soon find out though!

Also, I recommend the plastic window polish - works a treat on screens with minor blemishes & marks. Looks like new again now.

I also found this stuff "softened" my screen so it seems to sit better when folded down after I used it.

dilute some milton fluid ( boots, supermarket etc. ) for the algea (sp?).
as used on tents - no problem.

The factory service dept recommend Fabsil. Available from camping shops and much cheaper than the Renovo product. There are a number of previous threads on this topic but Thomsons Waterseal seems to be one of the most popular products used by contributors.

Fabsil for the fabric, and a product from Porsche for the rear screen (for Boxsters).
