I purchased the car for commuting to work (returning nearly 50 mpg) vs. the GTR that gives me around 20 MPG !!
Alfa Gt 1.9 JTD (60k, FSH) was bought for £3.6k as damaged it had a small dent in the front wing only, which was filled and painted, it came with full history from new and a wallet full of receipts. Cost of £400 of wing repair.
Next step - get it serviced and cambelt, tensioners, water pump changed, MOT and suspension arm (cost £500 approx.) Car has cost £4.5k so far.
First bit of cold weather the heater did not work - did some research and found it could be the resistor or the actual blower motor (decided to undertake this job myself). Alfa main dealer and indy quoted me nearly £600 !!!! I purchased the resistor and blower motor of a contact on ebay - total cost 37 pounds - worked perfectly 1st !.
Next Cig lighter died - don't you love Alfa's - cost of replacement £5 - works perfectly.
Common problem is groaning and squeeking from boot area - fix cost £0 - couple of double side pads inserted under parcel shelf holders and adjusted of oot bump stops - total fix no more noise
Biuld quality is better than my 156
I await the next Alfa issue - Love the car and wife loves it as much as the GTR

I had no idea you could pick these up for 3.5K???
That will certainly be on my shopping list when I decide to get rid of my Saab.
Does it use the same Fiat sourced 1.7 Diesel engine that is used in the Saab 93 and the Vectra? If yes, they are quite nice engines, if a little tractor like at idle

Vauxhall engine - its massive
I bought mine damaged - front wing had a ding in it - hence price of 3.6k ! and it was unrecorded
And yes it does sound awful at idle but once on the move you can't really tell its a diesel
I can put you in contact with my mate if anyone is interested
Petrol engined Gt's can be had for around 4k but MPG is considerably less than the JTD

Update the profile then, and don't forget to add it to this thread, as it fits perfectly:

Great looking thing, though not the colour combo I'd prefer
