That's just over the other side of the ship canal from me. I'm tempted to go and have a nosey although it would certainly be disrespectful.

I wonder if it was from Barton Aerodrome?

Probably going into Barton as that road is on final and close to the airfield.

I hope they make a full recovery. I used to fly out of Barton often after stopping for fuel/grub. There aren't many inviting places to go if it all goes quiet.

It's Salford so the planes wheels will have been stolen before the fire was out.

Seriously though. It's great to hear of the bravery of the people who ran to rescue the poor blokes inside. 60 and 70% burns are no fun but at least their alive and let's hope they make a good recovery.

A couple of mates of mine grew up around there, one of them living on Southlands Avenue which is the next road along.

This is also not far away from the location where the big gas blast took out some houses last autumn.

Its a shame, the guys just a general nice guy. Keeps himself to himself at work and I believe he was nearly able to fly on his own, his dad came into work and was abit of a mess (understandably)

I hope they make a full recovery, isnt there some formula about % burns + age = risk percentage?

The 59 year old has now died, the younger chap is said to still be critical.

A sad update but I still can't help thinking of the people on the scene who tried to put the fire out. They were brave and they deserve a mention.

Continued good wishes for the younger lad.
