I just got the following email from a colleague which was sent to everyone in the company, saying the following -

Dear all

I’ve had a remarkable journey working for ****** with many highs (and not too many lows) but unfortunately my time here is now drawing to a close. However, before I leave to review my current role within the company, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your help, support and patience over the past years (I know I may have been demanding at times and I make no apologies for this smile). Monday will be my last working day when I must relinquish my laptop and phone, followed by 3 weeks annual leave. Feeling refreshed and fit for battle I’ll then be ready to commence the next eventful chapter upon my return.

Please pass on my thanks to your teams and I wish you continued personal and business success in the future.

I’m handing over to ***** who has been briefed and he’ll deal with all customer enquiries whilst I’m away. I’ll continue to complete all outstanding work today and Monday morning so please call me as soon as possible should anything need doing urgently.

Kind Regards

I'm confused! Is he quitting or coming back or what?!

Doubt it there aren't any other jobs going and he's not been doing very well at work recently...

I know somebody who on their last day sent an email calling all and sundry out, slated the company and named all those he hated.

HR sent this email to his new employer who dropped their job offer and he was left with nothing.

Lesson in their for those who think they are smart..

HR could be on a sticky wicket with that if he was smart enough.

On the flip side if the information provided was factual then there is no problem. How confidential such an email is is open to question given that all and sundry received it.

I just asked the company director (i'm better friends with him than I am with this guy) what was going on and he said he couldn't say(!) So yes I can only assume he's gone but probably not in great circumstances.

That HR story seems completely out of order!

This is as likely as the fact that everyone knows someone who knows someone that had a snake escape the tank and they woke up and the snake was next to them, call the vet and they said get out of the hosue it's measuring you up.
