my plan is basically to buy a bog standard toledo as i have my first job and to heavy modify it
lowered group 4 arches roof and grill spotlights wide wheels and a engine conversion of some kind my ideas are a micra or a metro turbo also it needs to be reliable and relatively cheap im looking for advice ideas exprience

Why not just get the 1.8T, or even the 2.3 V5? Both will be just as cheap to buy, and perfectly rapid straight out the box.

Before you do any of that, get some insurance quotes to see what a modified Toledo/Dolly is going to stiff you for; you may be unpleasantly surprised.

Yep, I know...

I've also got a well tuned Sprint engine, a close ratio 'box and an LSD - but not enough time to put it all together frown

Thanks Dave. I think I'll hang on to all the running gear for now as I've also got a rust free Sprint shell it could go in - an even rarer thing!

It just seems a shame to leave the Toledo shell around.
