Calling all non PAS 500's

What width tyres do you guys have on the front? Mine are 215, but they need changing and I wondered if 205 would reduce tramlining and improve slow speed manouvreing?

205 are the latest "standard" for non-PAS cars.

Tramlines on motorway lane 1 grooves but then what doesent.

The bible says that increasing the front tyre width can actually cause more understeer which is strange.

Having just done my first bit of track driving I wouldnt want to go any bigger.

That's interesting, as mine's got PAS and 205s from when I bought it. They now need replacing thanks to Hullavington, so should I fit 215s? It was already understeering in low speed corners!

Starmist, I'm sure that the 215's on mine are the originals (c1994), but I find that the thing tramlines like hell and is a right handful when parking. Although I don't really push mine to the limit (I've not been on a track day), I haven't noticed a tendency to understeer, if I keep a steady throttle round a fast corner I find that the thing will go into a four wheel drift rather than understeer.

I've no idea what difference the 205's will make.

I am just replacing mine (ordered and waiting at the fitters!)
Several suppliers wanted me to take 205's for my PAS 5 Litre.
They also told me that SO1's were unavailable - Tosh.

Should be 205 on non PAS and 215 on PAS.
I have purchased 2 x 215 Bridgestone SO1's for £113 each, fitted/balanced etc.

Last weekend the man who must be obeyed did the alignment (worth every penny) and now with the new tyres Griffy will be hot to trot to Le Mans. Amazed how a little tweek of the alignment has changed the drive to, um, straight.

Older Griffs (non PAS&PAS) = 215
(bible states exactly how old)

Non PAS Griffs = 205

PAS Griffs = 225

It's not quite that simple because the first griffs had 205s.

That's interesting. Unless you have an early Griff and are a stickler for originality the SO1s have been superseded three times (SO2, SO2PP and SO3PP.)

I had 225 on the front of my Non-PAS Griff until I recently change the wheels, the wheels came with 205’s and although easier at parking speeds it doesn’t seem to turn in as well at it did, I’ll be swapping the 225 onto my new wheels pretty soon.
