Best insurance for an 18 year old?
Discussion
Hi all,
First time poster in classic car section! Being 18 insurance is a pain in the arse, pardon my french! I had investigated Kit Car insurance and it seemed to be a bit cheaper, but I had always wondered about classic car insurance and whether it would be cheaper?
I was wondering if there is anyone on PH who knows of any particular make/model of car and/or any good websites for someone my age to get isured on a classic car.
Anything you know would be a great help.
Phil

Excellent, just registered with them
RH Classic insurance gives quite good qoutes and some owners clubs have arrangemnts with insurers e.g. the Morris Minor OC with Footman James for U/25's.
It's all relative to available cash I suppose but I don't think an Audi Quattro is a particulary cheap car to restore you might want to have a proper look over the car (with a knowlegeable friend) and then price up parts required before taking this on.

If you fancy a Triumph the TSSC (www.tssc.org.uk) have an insurance panel of 3 insurers and one requirement to be on the panel is an undertaking to offer insurance to drivers of all ages reasonable premiums. This is in no small part to help bring 'new blood' in to the classic car world and prevent it just becoming an old farts club.

True - I'm a member! Their members are also very helpful; and if you're 17 - 21 you get half price membership too! Plus I've been in their magazine twice :Pgreeneggsnsam said:

Do you know if there's a refund system for those of us eligible for the lower rate that paid full?
I know! I have to say I wasn't expecting that! :lol:Do you know if there's a refund system for those of us eligible for the lower rate that paid full?
I doubt we'll get a refund; but you can always ring 'em up (they're very friendly. And recognise my voice as soon as I say hello 'cos I've rung for help so many times!
