I'm getting to really dislike PH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Always had a bit of a "thing" for watches but other than Seiko's and Citizens (and one Breitling that turned out to be a fake) I've never had a "nice" watch and certainly never more than one at a time as I've always thought it a bit... stupid!
But reading here, it seems I'm not alone in these wild fantasies of multiple watches.
So, yesterday we went over to Torquay to the Goldsmiths shop looking at Omega's and other mega watches and while there I fell in love with a Tag Heur of all things. However, it wasn't what I set out to buy so went home empty handed......
So today we phoned around and found a few Breiltlings (used) in Plymouth and I was on my way to have a look with the good lady. However, got as far as Totnes and decided to call in to a posh independant jewellers.
Came out with a Tissot PRS 516 chrono, a Citizen F6417 on a brown leather strap, both for me and a Citizen F6155 for the wife, little gold watch on a black leather strap, really dainty (she wouldn't let me buy the ladies chrono we found) and a cheapo watch for the youngest daughter.
So having bashed the credit card considerably, we went and had coffee in a nice outdoor cafe and talked about what a bloody fool I am.
Having expended that topic we drove back to Torquay and re-entered Goldsmiths!
An hour later, after a cup of their very nice coffee and a biscuit we left with the Tag I saw yesterday (and which I'm currently wearing) a Tag Heur G SS QZ BW Formula 1 carbon which while not a chrono is gorgeous and a ladies Citizen bi colour diamond (real!) bezel Chrono! Saw it in there and as she has always wanted a ladies chrono just bought it for her.
Excuse the rubbish pictures - a new camera is next on the list.

All this while wearing a baggy stained pair of shorts and trainers with holes in them! Even managed to get a discount in both shops (a grand in Goldsmiths no less) and it was a really enjoyable way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
Don't know when I'm going to wear them all but hey, you only live once, right? I mean, they won't carry the debts of this life into the next one will they?

The camera you have would probably be OK if you try this:
Take the pictures in plenty of light (like outdoors) but avoid direct sunlight on the face of the watch.
Turn off the flash.
Set the camera mode to Macro (often shown as a small flower icon on your camera mode settings).
Use a mini-tripod.
Use the camera timer.
Well done on your shopathon, enjoy.

What I should have bought was a mobility scooter but that feels like surrender. After fifty two years it's time to scratch my watch itch.
I now intend to haunt these forums for good (or bad) ideas and emass a little collection. May even get a Rolex "homage" just so it looks pretty on the bedside table! Although, a friend from another forum has just offered me a thirty year old genuine Rolex, he just doesn't know what it's worth. Fortunately, neither do I.....

Thanks for the comments guys.
Got a "tiny" bit of buyers remorse this morning. Kept waking up throughout the night, sometimes so I could look at my lovely watches and other times with this horrible sinking feeling of "Oh f
k! What have I done this time?"
Never mind, still would have bought them, so sod it all!

what happened?
A few years ago (about ten actually) I was a complete watch novice. While I've always loved watches and pens, lighters, cars etc, was never well up on "names". I was perusing the bay of fleas and saw this utterly gorgeous watch that was described as a "Breiltling Crosswind Chrono" and it was up for £799. I really liked it and Googled the name and realised that Breitling was a well known and very credible top marque. Now, while a newb/novice/niave person, I knew that you could buy fake Rolex watches but never even thought that a watch I'd never heard of would be faked. So I bought it.
When it arrived, had I known anything about watches (other than the Seiko's and Citizens I always wear) I would have realised straight away that it was a fake as there was no box or papers, but the watch itself was lovely. I wore it with pride on special occasions and cherished it/ kept it safe. Had it for a couple of years and one day it ceased to function.
Took it to a Jewellers and they said;
a, it's a fake.
b, the battery was flat!
When I got home, I looked a little more closely and the plating was coming off the case at the rear and while not convinced that it was fake, looked into the brand a little more closely. I was soon utterly ashamed to discover that it was, indeed, a fake.
I was so gutted I could never wear it again and I ended up giving it to a friend. He knows it's a fake, paid nothing for it and wears it constantly, totally happy with it.
Now that, while still a novice/newbie to the world of watches, I'm a little more "with it" and aware of the shear number of fakes there are out there, I'm a little more cautious. I dread the thought of buying a fake again. I'm not so bothered about the "name" but I am utterly obsessed with the thought of the quality and engineering that goes into a top marque.

That's not strictly true. Fake watches can be bought with fake papers as well nowadays.
A watch without papers is not necessarily fake either. Half of what I have bought (genuine watches) have been without original guarantee papers.

. Congrats on the new watches. Involving the Mrs is a good idea.
