On one of our trips to Folembray we were convoying down the autoroute when a French V8S came on via a slip road. Surprisingly he didn't seem to pay much attention to the 12 TVRs...

how very strange. you would think someone owning such a rare car abroad would have been an enthusiast

My old S3 was a stonking car. Mechanics on the S and the Elise are both very straight forward. Ford 2.9 V6 against a Rover K series. Hardly rocket science. Your local mechanics shouldn't have any problem in working in it. I know le TVR is based in france with an S - may want to get in touch...

sorry, when I said "le TVR" I meant this chap www.pistonheads.com/members/showProfile.asp?memberId=24351

dont know whether its anywhere local to you but he has an TVR S.

They really are quite simple cars and I should imagine any capable mechanic will be OK to work on them. Go for it my friend

Mine didnt suffer from many problems but did need some regular little bits and bobs. You are better off keeping on top of any work needed as if you dont it tends to get worse and worse. Generally, the car was very reliable though so long as you dont mind doing some work now and again.

You appear to have strayed into the wrong forum

Me too - I'll be taking my Elise so if you'd like a look head over to Maison Blanche and say 'Salut' - I'll take you for a spin if a) I can get out and b) I'm sober or you could come to the Pistonheads meet on the Mulsanne straight??
