mx5 cambelt or chain

Hi all

Can anyone tell me what years have belts and what years have chains? Also, were imports any different?

MK1/2/2.5 - 89>2005 - Belt @ 54,000 miles.

MK3/3.5 - 2005>Present - Chain.

(The 2005 onwards is the new MX5, the totally different shape to the older ones, easy way to tell which is which)

1.8 is non interference...not sure about other engines

2.0 in the mk3s are a ford engine, chain / interference.

The older 1.6/1.8 are bomb proof non interference engines- ace, if somewhat agricultural.
