Hi all,
Does any one have experience on repairing or removing tyrolean? My house (1930s semi) is covered with it and it has been patched in places and painted an off colour to the original, it's blown in places and has it has also peeled off completely to reveal the original render on other areas.

Original render is a smooth (I believe to be "stucco"?). Other houses on the street still have this smooth finish and it looks great to me.

I started getting some of it off with a heat gun in the conservatory - but it's a slooooow job, any ideas?

Cheers,
Matt

Edit - to add, I don't mind keeping the tyrolean finish if it can be made good (if possible!)

One can buy the tyrolean mix and hire the tool/sprayer to apply the same from Travis Perkins, quite an easy process to both apply and carry out a repair

Coms out ready textured, my wife once did the outside walls of a rented property we once owned, so fairly easy to do. Check present wall surfaces for cracks, hollow and loose surface, removing the same.

She must eat loads of spinach then. I tried it once - handed it back to my mate after ten minutes and went back to mixing compo by hand, much easier. Trust me it is fookin hard graft.

Heres the proof.........

Mind you it was a large project.............

That's cos you're just using sand and cement mix smile

The proper Tyrolean stuff is a lot finer. Also it comes in various colours, so does not need painting.

nice house btw thumbup

Grade 2 listed, pub to house, full renovation. Had no choice with the mix as it all had to be lime render with "hair". Absolutely no cement allowed!
