E60 on Hartge 21s
Discussion
Hi
I've been a long term fan of Hartge products and indeed up until a few days ago, had 3 sets of genuine wheels. Just had a set refurbed and sold and they look like this;

I've always loved the deep lip design of these and other high end brands of wheels for BMW's and I never really did like the style of the Hartge Classics shown on the E60 above as there's no lip. That said, wheel designs which have the spokes come right out to the wheel barrel are meant to visually look as though they're bigger than they really are. 21 inch is a fantastic size for the E60 (I'm a modifier) however in this case, I think Hartge realised that and have reverted to the latest incarnation of the 'Classic' design and brought the deep lip back.
The wheel bolts are 'fake' in terms of using a visual element reserved for 3 piece wheels. However the bolts themselves are made from Titanium
The car does look great though, I'm guessing the ones who think it's bling and not so much of a fan are more oem orientated for visuals
Cheers, Dennis!

Ive got the same Hartge wheels on my car. Not ones which I would have gone out and bought but came free with the car along with the orginal set. Having said that they do look pretty awesome in real life and are very similar in shape and design to the OE 166 style wheels so dont appear to be too in your face.
The M5 can be fitted with bigger rims than lesser models due to their increased rolling radius. This can only be a good thing as bigger-is-better visually at least on the E60/61 which, due to their 'heavy' rear 3/4 design, makes most wheels less than about a 19" in size look like casters! 21" looks just about right imo and you still retain a half decent sidewall profile.

Oh dear, not quite the reaction I was after.
At the end of the day, its your car. If you are happy, there you go. I personally don't like the size because i know it will ride like a marble over a cheesegrater. I would also expect a couple of rocks to be served up from the rear window. Personalisation is just that, its what you like that counts.Gassing Station | M Power | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
