Any videos or pictures from today? I found this on Youtube:

http://youtu.be/y3sRRhZLwOg

I didn't see the Viper out on track but it looks good in the video.

I was in the red 924 if anybody has footage/shots. I forgot to find the photographer. Extreme Photography or something?

Great day.

The Viper was great. I did get a bit bored of Ariel Atoms by the end of the day. They started pushing their luck, diving up the inside in the corners and buzzing past you as close as they could get.

BMW 1M looked very planted, and the GTR was rocket ship quick. Very busy too, don't think you could have fitted any more cars in the pitlane.

Shame, I saw the F40 in the car park. Won car of the day easy!

I would say however, the 101db static, 87.5db drive by noise limits were well publicised on both the Bedford and Circuit Days websites. And with cars like the F40, I would be deliberately researching into them.

All of them ? You should have reported them to the stewards.

The Viper was my favourite car yesterday, sounded great and looked spectacular out on the track. The Boxter spyder was also stunning looking, really want one now.

Biggest annoyance of the day was the diesel Skoda which seemed to be trying to evade the other cars via a self generated smoke screen.....

It was a terrific day yesterday. I don't think anyone in the car park was suprised the F40 didn't make it on track!

You looked to be having a great day. We had a good chat with the GTR driver. They had only just stepped up from an M3 CSL and were finding it a bit of a handful.

Atoms are terrific things, but they do tend to hunt in packs from time to time. In the SR3 we match them for speed for the most part but they have a lot more power than us, particularly out of the slower corners. I was driving the Radical 2 up as well which can take the edge off a little.

I hope you or anyone else didn't think we were buzzing too close. I thought the standard of driving was really good yesterday. I also think the circuit days novice 'X's are a very good idea.

Can you let me know who the photographer was as I'm blowed if I can remember.

Oh, and when are Bedford going to wake up to the simply dreadful standard of catering provision during the day. For an outfit who like a pound note, you'd think they would do better than a ropey old machine in the pits wouldn't you!

I don't believe it was all the Atoms.

The Skoda did rather lay the black fog down didn't it!

You will have noticed it being in an open car as well. I know it wasn't all the Atoms and I have an idea which one(s) it would have been, were like it with the other Atoms also.....

The SR3 looked fantastic, did you have a problem in the afternoon, did not see you going round so often.

It ran like a dream all day after we got the new brakes bedded in. I had to shoot off mid afternoon leaving the other 2 there, but they had a bunch of passengers arrive for some laps and that takes time, getting them in and out.

Oh we did have a long pause around half two.....exhaust header lost both bolts from one of the flanges.

Another one: http://youtu.be/SZuqNzhn2rk

I didn't think the Atoms were a problem and I bet when you're overtaking in one the extra grip, control, and visibility means that you can get close to other cars without feeling at risk. I noticed they went much quicker as the day progressed.

Well aware I have tarred everyone with the same brush in the Atoms, and I appologise. It was only the minority (well, there was about 12 of you! smile), but a few seemed to be getting closer and closer as they were passing. Just a bit un-nerving for a track noob in a little Clio to have an Atom diving down the inside while braking.

I am sure a few were driving as you describe, but I suspect the majority were not, the braking distances are a lot shorter than in a heavier car so they may not have felt it was in the braking zone. I was generally impressed by the standard of driving, people were very good at getting out of the way when a faster car was approaching and clearly signalled what they were about to do.

Yeah, 99% were great. I spent a lot of time indicating right being in one of the slower cars smile.

Just on this point, and it wasn't terribly well emphasised in the briefing, but on a trackday it is not about whether you feel that you are in a braking zone for your car or not - if the car in front of you is braking you should not be out braking them into the corner, even if you are not in a braking zone for your car. One of the chaps in the boxster spyder was black flagged early in the afternoon for doing exactly this, and I agree that some of the atoms were starting to take liberties in this regard by the end of the day. This point has been made better in previous track days I have done, although otherwise I thought that it was generally an excellent day, well organised with a very good standard of driving. I also agree that the catering at Bedford is appalling!

As you can tell from the above paragraph, I was also there on the day in my exige sprint. I only picked it up early last week and it was every bit as awesome as I hoped it was going to be - until I was black flagged at 2.30 for tripping the noise meter one to many times! Apparently it was the loudest car out there for most of the day and they gave me a few noise boards - 1 of which I definitely saw, not sure about the others though. Anyway, I'd already changed the exhaust to a quieter one from the previous Lotus stage 3 and from what I was told by the circuit manager I don't think it was induction noise that got me kicked off, so it looks like Bedford is off my track day agenda for a while unless 2bular can make me a supplemental baffle or I can find some more cash for an even quieter exhaust. I only failed the drive by by 1 db so it should be ok for most other circuits (and I was well under on the static noise test).
