newbie in search for advice. when looking under car noticed ex. manifold touching chassis so thought i would renew mountings, brackets look ok. looked on a couple of sites have seen a spacer plate, is this meant to go under mounting to lift engine a bit?

Yes thats right. From what i`ve read on here some cars only have them on one side. Cant recall which side. My 1992 griff has them on both sides.

You wouldn't want to raise the side with the swirl pot, it's close enough to the pulleys

Brought mine from ‘SC power’ real helpful guys, I used their retainers as well, so the spacer is thinner, every thing fitted very well, I had a few clearance issues but speaking to SC it seems that it was my car and the build quality of TVR.
My manifold on the passenger side was sitting on the chassis investigation revealed that there was only one bolt at the top…eek! I purchased the correct bolts from Rimmer bros (only metric in France) the worst part was fitting the engine mounting bracket, I needed some stubby spanners so ended up cutting one down to gain access, I also had to remove the Y piece and the expansion tank to help with access to the bolts on the rubber mounts. But all is correct now.

Not sure if it is a scacer or a 'holder' for the rubber engine mount.

One of the issues with the eangine mounts was it used to shear as it's rubber bonded to the steel mount.

You can how get various grades (road blue / race orange ) of silicon mounts which help to avoid the problem. But these silicon jobbies do supper from heat more than rubber .. tuscans with their exhaust manifolds etc have another issue there.

thanks for replies, my n/s manifold is also touching chassis, it has took all the coating off the chassis there also and is looking worse for wear. i shall check to make sure all bolts are there and tight. hopefully will get new set of mountings on next week.
