Wow! that looks super clean & tidy...

No doubt the fastest & most aggressive looking 996 ever produced!

But the "prettiest" looking & the best "drivers car" 996 is the mk1 GT3...?

Obviously in my own very biased opinion..

Ade
Cant speak for the 6GT2 or any GT3 but when you floor the 7GT2 the combination of the car trying to find traction and at the same time trying to shove the seat up your arse is amazing.

OP your car looks brilliant, I hope it keeps you satisfied for a long time.

Sorry but that looks nicer than a GT3....

That is the best looking 911 ever still IMO, absolutely stunning Crimp and credit due where credits due.
I'd have unloaded the 930 for that too. Lovely colour very subtle on an animal of a car!!

Looks like a cut and shut to me. In certain light I can just see a weld line right across the middle. There might be a possibility of a few swirl marks which could indicate significant structural damage or aggressive polishing, only a specialist could tell? The engine may have originated from an old 964 but this could be confirmed by getting an expert to examine the cases.
There is also very strong evidence that the drivers seat has a certain patina of wear conducive with being driven on a track.

Risky business owning these cars wink

I have to say that looks a lot better than my GT3.
Everything about the GT2 of this era shouts aggresion, amazing stance, low and mean.
Power of these animals is phenominal different to a 996 turbo or 997 turbo for that matter, in "experienced" hands they will see nearly anything off especially mid range.

The other plus and no doubt crimp will have sussed this due to his previous cars but this car will be classic and its a GT porsche so say no more.
I still missed out on the 5 speed 930 you sold though, that was a lovely old thing and theres none about without a story.

But has been mentioned in an earlier post the GT2 MK 1 is on a different page, and i'd have moved the 930 on for the car in the pics!
By the way love the OP title, "THE GT2" having just seen the plate, gotta be worth a few quid that?

Stunning Car. The daddy

Very very nice Crimp.
In fact stunning.......

No loud colours required with cars like the GT2.
Beautiful & purposeful, doesn't need to brag.

I'd like to buy a garage full and sit on them, they are at their lowest value wise and will go seriously North over the next 3 to 5 yrs.
Latest GT2's and 3's have got the driver aids now, these GT2 Mark 1's having nothing. Raw animals.

Not big numbers left either less than a 100 i believe. Good move i reckon.
PCCBS's too. Nice

Lovely Crimp.

How long are you going to keep it?

Whats the miles? Was it a private buy? Do you mind saying how much it was?

I think these are a smart buy.

Not for me sorry.

Magnificent smile

Only thing I'd change is the seats for carbon back buckets (never keen on spt seats in the 996 cars) but that's just 'details' (lol)

Cheers fellas for the nice comments.
All tucked up now.

Yup you can safely say i'm over the moon with my purchase.
One thing i will admit though is its a little bit scary, or i must be getting a little bit old......
You can really feel the back wheels churning up the tarmac and digging in as they try and rip the seat out of the floor as the horses push you along, its all a bit wild..

The other thing i've noticed is the noise its different from the 6T i had, on tick over and on boost, its a bit more old school Porsche in the noise dept, i'm sure the pipes are standard though, do they sound different the GT2's?

Inside or out ? The GT2 has less sound deadening.

The turbos are slightly bigger as well, which will mean less noise being damped by the turbines compared to a non-X50 turbo.

It's odd really, as a couple of years ago I never really fancied a 911 at all, but they have really grown on me of late? I am hoping that a 996 turbo will be my next car, but I keep looking at GT2s, they are the perfect 911 in my eyes cloud9 Stunning looking car, I am seriously looking forward to having a go in one biggrin

Noise is different to a turbo which isn't surprising due to less insulation, but get it nice and hot and there's a lot more turbo whistle than I ever heard my turbo make.

It really isn't much like a turbo at all, I think of mine as a GT3 with a proper enginesmile
