Meta Alarm problem
Discussion
When I bought my Chim, the alarm siren didn´t sound - no surprise really as it wasn´t there!
I have finally got a new siren.
Problem is that it doesn´t seem to work.
I plugged it in, and set the alarm.
I intentionally set off the alarm, the indicators flash but there is not a squeak from the siren.
Have I missed something, is there something else I need to do?
Many thanks,
Simon

Could you send me a Meta manual aswell - I will be fitting a new siren when it arrives
Jonathan, It's not so much a manual but a page of blipper functions. It's the type of thing that I would expect to be within your Meta alarm instructions when you purchase your new one.
I'm also a little defensive of supplying this type of information to a relative newbie who has only made 4 posts to date. That's not to say I do not believe you are a genuine owner, I'd just hate to be the guy who gave someone the info to steal your car.
Hi, i had the exact same problem with my car..alarm lihts flashing but no siren..The siren has since worked once at approx 2:30 in the morning for no reason, not the usual sound but just a high pitched continual sound...it would then not turn off with the fob, i was able to start and drive the car with it going off..I had to wrench it out under the grill at an industrial estate and it kept going off (battery back up!)....can you please give me a copy cause maybe im doing summat wrong but my neighbours are starting to dislike my TVR...I better hold that sports exhaust conversion for a few weeks me thinks!
The problem with the siren is it has nicad cells inside which are normally charged through being connected to the alarm.
water tends to get into the siren causing an internal short. Even if you disconnect the siren it will still sound or make that high pitched tone.
All you can do is replace the siren which will cure the problem.

Hello
I will second that. The man is a genius!
If not for his assistance (above and beyond the call of duty) the wife and I would not have made Zolder this year. Hell he was even ready to re-arrange his schedule and come across from Petersfield to Dover to fix my alarm!

If that doesn't work give Carl (Mr.META) Baker a call. His number etc is on here somewhere.

I have just returned from holiday and discoverd my battery is flat. Charged the battery and everything works fine apart from the central locking/alarm system. Do I need to reset the alarm? Help would be appreciated as its on my drive unlocked!
Hi Nick. You may need to reset the alarm module as they can go to sleep if the battery goes very flat. Simple process now you have recharged it. Just disconnect the battery for a few seconds, then reconnect! The alarm may arm on reconnection and the siren may go off but should then work OK. I've done this twice with mine. Info courtesy of Carl Baker.

Ah - could that be the reason why my new one doesn't work?
How long does it take to charge the Nicads - anyway of telling if the siren is dead due to flat nicads?
