Hi, ive come back from menorca, and was amazed at the amount f big fish swimming inside the man made harbour.

they were literally climing over one another to get bread that we through in,

does anyone know what type they are?

seems pointless going sea fishing when there was so many.

More than likely Mullet in harbours.

You can spend ages trying to catch them, but more than likely won't as they very gingerly nibble at bread thrown in.

Dont know anything about the fish, but its quite a nice little town, we've been twice and enjoyed it both times...

Good eating, you should have caught some and stuck them on a BBQ.

we were at an AI hotel, the food there was superb, as good as any harbourside reataurant
just been reading up on them they feed off the bottom, and its best to get them from open sea rather than from a harbour.

cheers guys

Got back on the 18th July. We stayed at the low rise apartment hotel right on the marina across the road from the Cala 'n Bosch hotel. Yes, the fish were quite large in the marina, and did like chocolate crepes (my wife didn't) as weel as bread and normal stuff.

I tend to buy those little cheap cakes they sell in supermarkets and wander out up to my neck in the sea and throw it in the water to see what comes by. There are quite a few decent fish in the sea there too.

In Arenal d'en Castell, I had all the usual candidates between 2" and about the size you would see in the marina, but when I looked about, there were a couple of very large, streamlined silver fish with a black trailing edge to their tails - close to a metre long cruising the outside of the feeding frenzy I had created. They never came any closer, just circled the area.

It's a great island, and I would say that Cala 'n Bosch offers the widest variety of places to eat and drink on the island. Shame you were AI as some of it is very good indeed.
