I was very happy with the RR result for mine this year:

Griffith Growl 2010

Last year the dyno measured 262.5BHP with 300ftlb torque

flywheel BHP vs torque

flywheel BHP vs AFR

The car was completely standard aside from a MA Tornado chip

Griffith Growl 2011

This year the dyno measured 275.6BHP with 320ftlb torque

wheel BHP vs flywheel BHP

wheel BHP vs ftlb torque

wheel BHP vs AFR

This year I have added ACT smoothbore elbow and intake, ACT S/S Exhaust headers, Clive Ford decat S/S Y piece.

In conclusion a few simple bolt on mods have given a good increase in power and most importantly torque. Even the fuelling is noticeably better and that is without a remap!

Was it yours that put out 350 torques last year or am I thinking of someone else?

Yes, that was me. 350 torques and 320 bhp. It would be about the same this year, but the car wouldn't go round too many corners...

I thought cheating was the way to go? I still have the Griff, and it's still a smooth drive as long as you want to go in a straight line.

Probably easy to tell I was a bit dissapointed with my result, seeing as it had pulled 327.5 and 345lb/ft 6 weeks earlier !
But thats the way it goes , HUH !

What was the story with yours in the end Ant? I did see her on the dyno but I never managed to catch up with you over the weekend. Your Griff looked absolutely stunning if that is any consolation!

They told me it was going very rich at the top end, but out on road my gauge (which I trust) never goes below 12.5AFR, so not really sure. Spoke to Joo and he reckons it isnt anything particularly to worry about, we think the bonnet vent is working more efficiently on the road than on the RR.

I know it goes rather well.

Mate, if it works well on the road and you are happy with it that is all that matters. yes

Hi John, you are another person I didn't manage to catch up with at the Growl frown

What power and torque did you get from yours?

Hi Matthew.. I did look for you at one point.. but could not remember what your car looked like so looked for cars with the Ali centers on.. only found one and it wasn't you.. have you got them fitted now??

It made 280 bhp and 320 LBF but is fueling like a dog... It's still set for the 'old cam' I had in so does need a re-map...
Mark Adams hopes to get another 20 on each.. so hope he can!! biggrin

Cheers

John

Interesting dyno results. Also, the comparison between the the Nissan 350Z and the Griffith 500. Comparable BHP for both in the "Growl" tests. However, in the EVO lap times on the West circuit, Bedford Autodrome; Harry Metcalfe's standard Griffith (possibly +-280bhp) was quicker by 1.5 seconds and also beat the 370Z time which is rated at 330-350BHP(Nismo). "Not bad for a car launched 17 years ago" (EVO comment)
In conclusion, the Griffith was better in the corners than the Nissan, despite a lower peak speed to the 370Z. (-2.3mph) An all together fine testament to the capable chasis and lighter body of the Griffith. Happy cornering, but watch it !!
