What are the lotto grants in you local authority area spent on, my borough seem to get more lotto grants for refugees, asylum seekers, Afghanistans, Somalians, Iraq Iran & so on, not really what I think it should be spent on.

Just type your local authority in the Local Authority box to search

That's an interesting link, and I'm actually pleasantly surprised that the vast majority are very worthwhile causes.

Cheers for that.

Can't work out how you single out Daily Mail enraging grants, the worst I found was teaching English to chinese people. bds.

We installed a composting toilet on our woodland, it cost us £150 and took about 3 hours, who needs a grant for that?

£90k on a fking hat fair, £25k to "Winchester Action on Climate Change -Past Matters: remembering our past to change our future" irked

Some good causes (Lots for the armed forces) however there's an awful lot of nonsense such as arty farty bks that seems to win the largest amount of grants, the university for example had £41k for a conference on largescale outdoor puppetry rolleyes

Seems someone else is on with the 'eco-toilet' here too, £10k;

Site said:
This is a project by a community group in Blackpool. The group will use the funding to install an eco-toilet and portacabin within the grounds of their allotment site. This will provide plot holders with improved amenities and environmentally friendly facilities within a community space.
There seems to be a lot of jollies for WWII veterans +1 which, in the case of the £800 for the commemorative trip to Normandy, seems fair enough. It's the £2k, £3k and £4k for 'commemorative' trips to Italy, Israel and the Caribbean I'm a little unsure of. How easily could this system be abused do you think?

I read the last one as Taliban Community workshop (I guess they get funding from a different source).

England Netball (the equivalent of the FA) is based in Hitchin. The funds probably go to England Netball who then fund the national squad and distribute funds to local clubs across England.

It surprised me how much went back to what I consider normal council spending.

£45,000 for seeds (Barnsley council)
£433,000 domestic violence
£200,000 Barnsley council sports partnership
£456,000 DIAL Barnsley (advice service for disabled)
£127,000 for social care for over 50's
£375,000 for at risk young families
£100,00 Barnsley cultural project (waste of money there is no culture in Barnsley)
£400,000 Barnsley sports partnership (again)

£2.7mil Wentworth heritage
£1.4mil Sculpture park

I'm glad to see quite a lot of these type of awards:

A Second World War veteran from Essex has been awarded a grant towards travel costs for a commemorative visit to Holland in May of next year. Funding has been provided for one Second World War veteran.
There aren't many in my area that make me raise an eyebrow. The majority seem to be going to very worthwhile things.
