There are a few artists who I've stumbled over by accident, in these cases by waking up during TV shows they were on having fallen asleep in front of the TV.

Firstly, Sia, an amazing artists whose vocals woke me up like a bucket of cold water:

Secondly, a long time ago, but an absolute favourite ever since, Faith No More:

Anyone else have any gems to share?

I stumbled across 'Angelina' by Marillion on the form.

I have been listening to them a lot recently and am going to see them next year.

Discovered Spock's Beard by accident.

My brother had been recommended a couple of Dream Theater CDs which I liked, and had a Transatlantic one too (formed with a guy from DT, a guy from Marillion, and a guy from Spock's Beard). Bought a SB album and never looked back.

I was in a pub many years ago when a song came on.

I went straight over to the DJ to find out who it was.

I've since seen this band more times than any other.

The song? Dirty Love.

The band? Thunder.

I saw them supporting Foreigner at the NEC when they were Terraplane, and said at the time that they were nearly there. They changed the bassist IIRC and bang! (no pun intended).

Steel Panther - saw them in Vegas and thought they were brilliant, funny and naff biggrin

Ratatat, E*Vax, Dropkick Murphys, Howlin' Wolf, Band of Horses, Waylon Jennings, Doves, Black Keys, Nina Simone, and a lot of Rap / R&B artists all discovered completely by chance, and many of them firmly established in my massive 'favourites' playlist.

Sia Furler was originally the, and subseqently one of the, vocalists for Zero 7, amongst other credits. Seen her live a couple of times - seemingly as mad as a fish but a great, unusual voice.
