Picking up a '93 mini - what's it worth?

I'm picking up a '93 mini at the weekend. Lower than 40k on clock, believe it's a 1275cc? Automatic. seen a few going for around 3k! Sound about right? What are the auto boxes like? Do they add to the value? Are there any desirable mods to be made or is completely standard the best way to go?
Might not sell it straight away, what are they like to own and drive? What mpg can I expect?

The automatic is worth less than a manual and it doesn't take well to engine mods with the auto box. Check for rust all over the shell and frames , as long as that is ok everything else is a relatively easy/cheap fix.
1993 isn't a particularly special year therefore a standard example doesn't hold the same value as a mk1 or some of the specials.
A manual with a few tweaks has a great grin factor, again a standard auto not so much. A 1993 will be injection with a higher final gear therefore better on MPG that a pre 90's car.
The values are all over the place. For £3k i would be looking for a very clean shell with the expectation of having to freshen up some of the mechanical elements. Mileage is not much of an indicator with these cars. I have seen some rotten examples with a genuine 10k on the clock, then i have seen some 100k+ miles in decent condition.
Age and milage is nothing important, its all in the condition of the shell.

Hopefully condition will be good. It has been kept in a garage all it's life. By mods I didn't mean performance mods, more aesthetics such as wider wheels, minilites, paint jobs etc. I did suspect auto box would let it down! what model is it? I cant think of anything particularly high in spec from 93. Also be aware that a lot of Minis have had various parts changed over by now in an attempt to make then something that they are not. There were a flood of Mayfairs from that year but some are now "coopers" and such.
