Truckers

They're not all that bad are they? Other than the prozzie murderers! I have quite a lot of respect for them as road users, can't be that easy trying to control x-tonnes of rolling metal with limited visibility behind you.

Last night heading down from Leeds to Nottingham at each junction I saw some awful slicing and general cutting up, so much so that 1 of the trucks (or are they lorries) locked up under braking from some fkwit doing a Johnny Rep L3-1 swoop while going way to fast for the surrounding traffic coming up to a junction.

It's enough to st anyone up, and that driver barely had time to react let alone give anything back. If that was me in the cab I'd have gone mental, but this driver seemed to be quite chilled about the whole thing. Maybe just used to it?

I often think truckers get a raw deal in a lot of cases, mostly by uneducated car drivers not realising their brakes are far sharper than that of a truck.

Anyone else experienced this?

On the flip-side, travelling on the A14 everyday and seeing the stopping distances they don't leave themselves, maybe they're not overly aware about the effectiveness of their brakes?

I drive an artic and basically you have to get used to it. It really isn't worth it to boil over in a rage at every incident.

If you drive as much as the average trucker nothing will suprise you about people's poor driving. There was a thread on here a couple of days ago with a you tube link showing a crash test of a small truck and two cars. Really wish I could make certain car drivers see that. They have no idea what would happen to their car if a fully loaded 44 ton artic hit them from behind at speed.

In short, you have to stay calm and let it go. Sometimes easier said than done.

In the main, truckers are fine..... But like all road users, you get the good and you get the bad.

Only trouble is, "bad" in a 44 tonne truck is recipe for carnage.

I gave up driving artics 12 years ago, after 10 years at the wheel.
It certainly used to test my patience. The selfishness of other road users at times just defies belief.

I could say the same of truck drivers. I expect more as they are professionals unlike the majority of the numpties i have to share the road with.
