So the time is looming, in the next two years I reckon we will be seeing a new mx5 so speculation on what we will see as in engine gearboxes hybrid interior options, less so what the car will look like.

So for me, I reckon the 1.6 turbo ford engine varying degrees of power probably different turbos, the new dsg gearbox Mazda developed a short while ago. Interior wise sat nav option at least would be a step forward. I would say that the folding hard top is here to stay most certainly and the indicator repeater. Ha!!!!

I'm interested to hear what other people have to say?

There was a piece in Autocar a couple of weeks ago saying that Mazda had briefed their engineers to achieve a weight of 800Kg for the next MX5 - engine was (I think) a 1.5 turbo.

If they achieve that kind of weight it would a) be virging on an engineering miracle, and b) be something I would be very interested in purchasing.

Unfortunately the artists impressions of the design were not that attractive...

If they could find some way of making the Barn doors meet safety regulations I think they would sell like wild fire.

going by all previous updates the ND should be heavier, taller and feel like a bigger car...hmm.

Although hopefully they won't put the cup holder anywhere stupid like the early NCs!

The next generation car won't be seen for a while yet - It's unlikely to be before 2015

It will definitely be much lighter though, and with the money they've spent on Skyactive technology, it definitely won't be any engines found in a Ford
